David Tennant

When I first started watching Doctor Who and got to the second season, I was concerned I wouldn't like David in the role of The Doctor. I need not have worried. David is an incredible actor and has fast become one of my favourites (if not my favourite). After watching half of the second DW season, I desperately wanted to see more of this man's work. I watched Secret Smile on Youtube (I have since gotten a better copy of that!) and loved the contrast in character that he played in this show compared to DW, in fact they couldn't have been different. David seems to effortlessly make any character his own. Whether it be singing in Blackpool or charming the pants off everyone in Casanova, David brings 100% to each role and he is simply incredible. I've now seen a LOT of David's film and TV appearances (if you ever get the chance to see the TV movie Recovery, do so... David will absolutely break your heart!) and he's never failed to disappoint me. Even in small roles he's memorable. I had the pleasure of going back and watching Taking Over The Asylum which was one of David's very first roles where he played a manic patient at the Asylum featured in the show. You could see how far he could go in this just by watching him play quite intense and complicated scenes which would have been a challenge for any actor let alone a novice! I'm also completely in love with David the man too. He's lovable, funny and just a little geeky! You'd be hard pressed to find a bigger fanboy of the classic Doctor Who series too! Every fan meeting I've read points to the fact that David's very generous and kind with his fans... seriously, what's not to love about this man?

Eskimo Joe

Eskimo Joe have become by far my favourite band in the known universe! They are that good! There really is nothing I don't like about them. Kav writes the most incredible lyrics that are just beautiful and poetic. Couple these lyrics with an awesome melody and kick arse music (thanks to Joel and Stu... oh yes and Kav too!), and you have one hell of a powerful song from a simply fantastic band. Their album "Black Fingernails, Red Wine" is one that I listen to constantly, along with their previous release "A Song is a City". The title track from BFRW is actually my favourite song of all time. It's just one that you can really rock out to! I love listening to EJ's music and watching interviews that they do as well. All three guys have the best sense of humour, so I tend to just giggle throughout everything that they say... ok now and then they can be serious, but they're generally just hysterically funny! Having all of their releases, I've got to say the guys have done nothing but improve. While the likes of "Sweater" are catchy little tunes, their growth in their music is just so evident over the course of time. I can't wait to see what they do next, because whatever it is I know it will be brilliant. I can't wait to see them live either. I've got 2 TV concerts (plus their DVD which has live performances as well) that I watch all the time, and I'd just love to have that experience of seeing them in concert right in front of me. Awesome, brilliant, poetic... there's just 3 words that can describe Eskimo Joe, really for me the best band in the world right now.

Jensen Ackles

Simply put, Jensen is amazing! He is seriously one of the most underrated actors in the world today. To watch him on screen is pure pleasure. He often plays what people would consider the smart-ass type character (well, in Supernatural he does and he did in Dark Angel too), but he gives them such emotional depth that you can't help but love them. I did originally see Jensen on Days of Our Lives at the very start of his career, but it wasn't until Supernatural that I really took notice of him. With one single episode, he had me hooked. Since then I've gone back and re-watched Dark Angel, and viewed for the first time his performances in Smallville, Dawson's Creek and the movie Devour. In these you can really see that the range Jensen has is limitless. I've also been watching some DOOL clips as well, and he is definitely one of the best actors on Days of all time! Jensen himself is a great guy, who comes across sincere and fun in interviews. Ah yes, I do love Jensen! And can I just say, the man definitely deserves to nab himself an Emmy! Could anyone else nail every single time a complex character such as Dean Winchester? It would be easy to play Dean over the top in terms of his darkness or humour. But going to the extreme either way wouldn't allow Dean to be the character he is. Jensen plays him understated, and that is so much more powerful. He has the ability to say so much with a single look, or a gesture. His powerful acting can move you to tears or laugher... sometimes when you least expect it. I have said I love Jensen haven't I???

John Barrowman

Oh my, John Barrowman makes me laugh every single appearance that he does, he is that funny and adorable! He's also quite the handy actor and musician! I first discovered him many years ago on the show Central Park West (yes, in the days of Melrose Place, I did enjoy that show!), but it was when I switched onto the first episode of Torchwood that I truly noticed all that was John Barrowman. Here was this dashing, handsome man fighting aliens and saving the world! Really, no other man could bring the character of Captain Jack Harkness to life as well as John. He's the perfect mix of good looks, humour, sex appeal and cheekiness that makes Captain Jack his own. I've seen a lot of different types of variety shows over the years, but there was none I enjoyed more than when John hosted Friday Night Project in the UK. It was one of the funniest hours of television I've seen and it showed off the naughtiness of John's personality! Between that appearance and the many interviews he's done for Torchwood, Doctor Who and other shows, I really did come to appreciate the man John is and was completely drawn to him. Did I also mention that the man has an incredible voice? I have John's Reflections From Broadway album (among other recordings) and it has brought me to tears. He sings with such passion and soul that really comes across on his recordings. I can sit and listen for hours to his music and particularly love his performance of Why God Why from my favourite musical, Miss Saigon. What I wouldn't give to see John play Chris live on stage. Cheeky, naughty, lovable and with the voice of an angel... that is John Barrowman!

Supernatural: Dean Winchester

When it comes to characters, we all love ones that are well written and have emotional depth. What I also like are characters that have a sense of darkness around them, who brood, but who also have a sense of humour and can use sarcasm to the extreme. I like a character who shows emotion, yet remains strong and true to themselves. These characters must also have that special factor that they call "it", that one defining feature you can't really explain, but compels you to be drawn to them. There aren't many characters on TV who fit all these criteria's. Actually, I don't think I've ever really found one... until now. I first got into Supernatural thanks to Jeffrey Dean Morgan who played Denny on Grey's Anatomy. He also happened to play John Winchester, so I tuned in to see his performances. It was a joy to find a show as brilliant as Supernatural, but what truly surprised me the most was that I'd finally found a character that fulfilled my every want and desire. That character is Dean Winchester. Every episode takes you further into his world, into his mind and takes him into your heart. One minute he can make you laugh out loud from a sarcastic remark or a smart-ass look. The next, with a single tear he can break your heart into a thousand tiny pieces. He's a complex character that you never really know which way he'll go with things, but one that allows you to feel his vulnerability and strength. Yes I know... a little contradictive, but like I said, Dean is very complex. Dean has grown so much over 2 seasons of the show. I really do hope we get the chance to see just how far this man is willing to go. Dean Winchester, seriously the best character on television.
